Two to five day workshop.
The entire process, from preliminary drawings through
cost analysis, samples and detailed models. Discussion of marketing for
large scale works. This master class need not be only for those working in
clay; the problems and challenges of commission work are much the same in
any medium.

A discussion/demonstration of luster glazing and decals. Students will work with these methods on their own fired pieces.
| |

the use of color in clay as an alternative to glazing. How to prepare and
combine colored clays and incorporate them in handbuilding and wheel work.
A hands-on experience for students at any skill level.

RAKU.

this Americanized Asian technique. Easy clay and glaze formulation and

My Background
I have been a professional clayworker and teacher for over twenty years. My
current work is in porcelain luster and architectural commissions. I am also
the author of CLAYWORK, 3rd edition, which is widely used in school systems
throughout the United States. My second book, LOW FIRE, has just had its
tenth printing. My most recent book, SCULPTING CLAY, is now in its third
